PENTECOST IS HERE (Sin of the Amorite is now complete)

Writer's picture: brian princebrian prince

This may just be one of the most important messages I write. This is BIG!

It comes in two parts. I hope you read both parts may your eyes be opened to see clearly.

For four hundred years, generation after generation had been taught about their heritage as children of Abraham. They knew there was something special about it but when the whip of the Egyptian master landed on their backs, the knowledge did not seem beneficial at all.Slaves had their place and it was not a position of privilege. They were the bottom of the barrel, the pariahs. There was a clear structure; masters and slaves, the landlords and squatters/peasants, lenders and borrowers. They knew the drill. With hard work one could move up the ladder but there was a ceiling. The top was being a leader or manager of other slaves. This was their lot. To report to work and do what the masters said. Hoping to make the quota for the day with the fewest whips. The dream was to start a small manageable family of two or three kids because of economic factors and pray to God that they grow up into responsible humans and be able to purchase a house on mortgage and a car on loan and maybe have a family business. This was their life. They kept making confessions that alluded to a big God yet here they were serving as slaves to the Egyptians(Amorites) and their gods. They had been told of God's promise to deliver them from slavery but it did not seem forthcoming. Year after year they would be reminded of their destiny, the promised land flowing with milk and honey but their reality was a stark contrast.

So when Moses enters the scene telling them that finally it was time to go, they must have thought he was crazy. They were not deluded unlike Moses whom they knew as a fugitive with delusions of grandeur.A wanna-be hero who killed an Egyptian but then got banished from the kingdom. Yet here he was telling them that it was time to get out of slavery yet it was all they knew. How could it even happen? Although they had dreamt of this day, after several generations had been born and died in slavery, the dream remained just that, a dream. They made peace with their status. All they could hope for was a better hand in the afterlife. But things were getting tighter and tighter and every so often they would petition YHWH who listens to his children's prayers. It may have looked like nothing was happening but now they were about to see YHWH do his thing. He shows up Big!So one plague after another, hit the land of Egypt and slowly by slowly they noticed that it was not business as usual. I mean who would ignore the fact that an army of locusts in the billions had just ravaged the land and then disappeared shortly after, and yet they did not lack food? YHWH was begin to draw their attention, the 'sin of the Amorite' was now full according to the prophecy YHWH gave to Abraham close to a millennium before this.

“You can know for sure that your descendants will live in a land that is not their own, where they will be slaves, and they will be oppressed for 400 years.14 But I will punish the nation they serve, and after that they will come out with many possessions.15 But you will die in peace and be buried at a very old age.16 In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, because the sin of the Amorites will not have run its course until then.”

Genesis 15:13-16

My guess is you probably did not know that God foretold the slavery of Israel 500 years before it happened. And as opposed to the second case where they were taken into slavery into Babylon of the Assyrians because of their rebellion, this time it was pre-ordained.

YHWH through Joseph had orchestrated for the children of Israel would find refuge in Egypt. It would seem like He was keen on it. Quite an interesting strategy to send your 'prized possession' into slavery for 400 years and then deliver them out of it with plenty of possessions and all this contingent on the "sin of the Amorite running its course". But since we know that He is good and in Him there is no shadow of turning, and that man's collective wisdom could not touch His foolishness, we marvel at his methods. So now He had come to collect and collect He did.

The sin of the Amorite

The Amorites who occupied Egypt, were descendants of Ham through Canaan. Egypt was also a son of Ham. Ham and his descendants were cursed for Ham's sin against Noah. This was the curse,

“Canaan is cursed!

He will be the lowest slave to his brothers.

Praise the Lord, the God of Shem!

Canaan will be his slave.

May God expand the territory of Japheth.

May he live in the tents of Shem.

Canaan will be his slave.”

Gen 9:25-27

Based on the curse the descendants of Ham which included Egpyt and Canaan(Amorites), Nimrod (the mastermind behind the original city of Babylon) among others were to be slaves of children of Shem and Japheth yet the scenario in Egypt was the opposite of this and this had carried on for hundreds of years and now it was time to set the record straight. The sin of the Amorites was complete.

It was time to follow up on the promise of Yahweh. His judgement was obvious to Abraham. So on came the plagues, one after another. Egypt had to surrender. The last two being an army of locusts that attacked in the billions and the killing of the firstborns starting with the oldest. Eventually they did let the children of Israel go which came after the Passover. The day of vengeance had come and the wicked had been judged.Although they would later change their minds and try to subdue them again, YHWH then drowned the whole Egyptian army undersea. The army of the greatest nation on the then world drowned! A statement to the whole world!YHWH is the one true God.

And now as free people and having left Egypt with such a haul of gold and silver, they were free to worship YHWH. The journey through the wilderness should have taken 40 days and ten days later they would be celebrating Pentecost-the feast of first-fruits, but we all know how things panned out.
